WHERE THE LOVE LASTS FOREVER

For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God.

2 Corinthians 1:12

The glory of Christ and the grace of God are so evident and so self-sufficient that we must be content to conduct ourselves to the world in simplicity and godly sincerity. This is so that the testimony we bear is not by anything we could have done to “improve” the gospel, lest we empty the cross of its power (1 Corinthians 1:17). This is also so that the faith of men will not rest in human wisdom but in the power of God (1 Corinthians 2:5).

“Arrogance toward God is all there is in the modern world. It’s the ocean we swim in—the air we breathe. It’s woven into the fabric of our minds. We don’t even know it’s there. We can’t see it, because we look through it to see everything else.” —John Piper

“Along with the tragic loss of moral compass in this country, we have increasingly lost freedoms, and we’ll lose more. The freedom of speech is disappearing, as the secular consensus grows that our shame is our glory, and that to use simple, Biblical language to describe sin is hate speech and already prosecuted as illegal in certain places in Canada and in America.” —John Piper

“Nobody is a generic human being. There is no such thing. God never intended that there be. God creates male human beings and female human beings. And this is a grand thing. It is a travesty of these human natures to think God’s only design in the differences was for making and nursing babies. The differences are too many and too deep for such a superficial explanation. A woman is a woman to the depths of her humanity. And a man is a man to the depths of his humanity. And this is a grand thing…Don’t diminish this. Delight in it. Glory in being alive as the male or female person you are.” —John Piper (via itsallaboutchrist)

And there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small of stature. Luke 19:2-3

Lord, we so want to see you today but we are hindered by our own limitations. We pray you overcome these limitations for us and that we may hear you say, “I must stay at your house today.” Amen.

“You don’t become holy by trying to become holy. You become holy by fixing your eyes on Jesus Christ, and his decree declared holiness over us because of his life, death, and resurrection. He is the founder and he is the perfecter of our faith who died our death and has risen from the grave to prove that he paid the bill in full and has victory over sin and death.” —Matt Chandler, Holiness: The “How” Matters (via itsallaboutchrist)

The blessings of the call to (a lifetime of) singleness

For thus says the Lord: “To the eunuchs (males who are castrated and set apart for service to the royal family) who keep my Sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant, I will give in my house and within my walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.

Yes, I am a Christian.

itsallaboutchrist:

Yes, I am a Christian.
No, I don’t hate gays.
No, I won’t shove the Bible down your throat.
No, I won’t tell non-Christians they’ll go to hell.
And no, I am no better than anyone else.
I was saved, by the Almighty King, and was put, on this planet, to love Him and the people He made, and to share the Gospel. Period.

If we are to believe the Bible, non-Christians will go to hell.

An essential part of the gospel says that all men have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). And nothing that falls short of God’s glory is accepted in heaven, and therefore goes to hell (Revelation 21:8). Isn’t it cruel not to tell people of the truth that unless they accept Jesus and His grace and live by His words and repent they won’t taste heaven?

The spirit behind not offending others doesn’t do any good; true Christians would rather offend people to heaven than cower in fear because of persecution that might come because of offending others. It’s not boasting, too, for true Christians acknowledge that they have not been accepted for heaven because of their own merits - its because of the blood and sacrifice of Jesus that they have been deemed righteous, for the glory of God.

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” —Habakkuk 3:17-18

I read it somewhere (unfortunately I can’t find it but I’m looking it up), and I’d like to believe it.
